Opportunity Program

TSLI's Maintenance Opportunity Program
(MOP) was developed in 1986 through a grant from the New
York State Office of Mental Health in order to provide supported
work opportunities to psychiatrically disabled adults.
MOP
provides training and work experience in the following areas:

Office/building
cleaning
-
Interior
painting
-
Carpet
steam cleaning
-
Floor
buffing/waxing
|
|
|
In addition to offering task related skill
development, MOP helps participants to develop good work habits.
Each MOP worker receives both initial orientation and ongoing
training. Performance evaluations are completed routinely and
workers are eligible for raises and promotions based on
performance.

Eligibility
Applicants must:

be
at least 18 years of age;
-
have
a primary diagnosis of psychiatric disability;
-
have
a stable residence and a resident of Suffolk County New
York;
-
be
receiving psychiatric and therapeutic services, if indicate;
-
be
treatment and medication compliant;
-
be
in good physical health and must have had a complete medical
examination within one year prior to admission;
-
be
motivated to work.

provide the name and number of a contact person or case
manager with whom periodic telephone contact will be
maintained.
No
person shall be excluded from employment on the basis of
religion, race, color, sex or national origin.

The following items are
required
- A Referral Form
(*pdf) completed by a mental health worker
- An Employment
Application (*pdf) completed by the applicant
- Physical exam records
dated within one year of application
